SINOPEC, China’s second-largest oil giant, said today it has started construction at its LNG terminal in the Guangxi region.

The project is designed for first-phase capacity of 3M tonnes per year of LNG. The overall cost of the first phase, with 2,125.48km of gas pipes, would total 17.8Bn yuan ($2.8Bn).

Capacity would rise when a second phase – to include four 160,000m³ LNG tanks – goes online to 6M t/y.
